With WeightWatchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem - it is a monetary investment.  With sparkpeople, it is a time investment.  Yes, the site is overwhelming, but give yourself a week or two to get used to it...find what parts work for you and what parts you don't need, then jump on board and start using it...every day.  I am living testament to how well this site monitors your weight loss!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ultimately, you are only accountable to yourself.  You can do it, though. Granted, it has been 2 weeks since I weighed in, but hey - I did weigh in today and viola! Two pounds!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have lost a total of 26 pounds since I started losing weight after Tyler. This is less than I weighed before I got pregnant with him. In fact, I weigh the exact amount I did right before I was pregnant with Travis - about 8 years ago. I have a long way to go, but I'm feeling good and motivated...maybe even motivated enough to get up in the morning and actually walk!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My short-term goals are to be down 2 more pounds by Halloween, 7 total pounds by Thanksgiving, and 12 pounds by Christmas. That will leave me with 15 pounds to lose in 2007 to be at my "ideal" weight. WHOO HOO!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have been walking a lot lately, despite the heat.  I walked home from church Saturday - 3 miles.  Then I walked TO church Sunday afternoon to do some work - another 3 miles.  Last night, I walked about 3.2 miles in a big loop from our house to the neighborhood schools.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I figure if the walking isn't helping, the sweating certainly is!  It is in the 100's here in the daytime, down in the 90's by the time I walked last night.  And, the humidity is killing me - around 70%!  Good for the pores, right?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to continue to walk this week - 3 miles to church tonight, at least - and I'm going to continue to try and boost my water intake. As much as I would like to say I'm walking 4 times a week, it ain't happening.  Too hot.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm slowly getting the weight off, but it is really hard right now.  We're inside most of the time, around the food.  Always food, and the boys eat much of the time (about 5 meals a day for Tyler right now).  It is hard not to eat with them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll post my weight update on Wednesday.  just hoping for some cooler weather so we can get outside. Bad stuff in has to be flushed out!  Time to get it moving!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;#2 - I am committing 4 days a week to walking.  Walking is what got me this far, walking will carry me the rest of the way.  I have a three-mile course that takes me around 45 minutes to walk - 4 evenings or mornings a week.  I can do this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;#3 - Fiber fiber fiber!  I don't eat NEAR enough of it.  I am going to eat breakfast every morning, which will consist of something high in fiber.  I will supplement one meal a day with a fiber additive (like Benefiber).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My goal for this time next week is to be down two pounds. I have 23 more to go before I reach my goal.  I feel so motivated!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The walking has been the best thing I have done by far.  I took a part-time job, though, and my walking has been minimal lately, plus with the Texas heat, any kind of walking is not fun right now! I'm overall down over 10 pounds, but I have 35 more to go.  I just can't seem to get motivated enough to DO anything about it.  I think this weather has a lot to do with it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not that we have bad weather.  Here in Texas, it is going to be a balmy 75 degrees here, albeit rainy.  It is the fact that the days are so short.  All I want to do is go to bed at 8 (which I NEVER do anyway) and sleep in until the last.possible.second.  Not very motivating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, I'll try to be better about posting my progress in journal format. I am NOT at my 11/30 goal, guaranteed.  So, new goals abound!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;by 12/14 (two weeks!)...regain my 160 status.&lt;br /&gt;by 12/24 (just prior to the second gorge-fest)...get down to 157.&lt;br /&gt;by 12/31 - just maintain that 157.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After January 1, I'll set some more substantial goals - water intake, weight loss, exercise regimen, etc.  I would love to see about 30 pounds melt away before swimsuit season next year. I'm about to break into the 150s! YIPPEE!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I kind of slacked off on walking this week, so next week I'll be very diligent about getting my walks in. Scott was out of town from last Sunday until essentially today, and I had so much to do I just couldn't function with losing an entire morning or two to walking. I will be better next week though, I promise!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Scott's dad has been in the hospital, and I am hoping that Scott finally wakes up and realizes that HE needs to shed some poundage, too. It isn't a diet, it is a LIFE CHANGE that he needs. He needs to get in 20 minutes of exercise a day - serious exercise. Walking is fine, but not walking to the coffee machine at work. He needs 20 continuous minutes. And, he needs to eat better. He says he's eating salads, but he is also eating Ritz crackers by the boxful and cheap cookies from the gas station. Doesn't work that way now, does it my friends?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just want him HEALTHY. And to do that, I'd like to see him lose about 70 pounds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm still on track - I'm supposed to weigh in Tuesday at 160, I think. So much for being at 163.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was a rough weekend.  I had to make my grandmother's 90th birthday cake and also EAT it.  Yes, I HAD to.  I made it!  Anyway, between that, the dip my mother made, the gumbo, dinner at the Olive Garden, tons of junk.  It is no wonder I'm not sitting at 200. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That doesn't mean I'm throwing my goals out the window.  I'm just off to a slow start. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am setting a daily goal.  Today, my goal is NO SUGAR.  I'm okay right now, but it is only 10:20 a.m. and I have the whole trick-or-treatish day to go.  We'll see how I fare.  I'm staying positive though.  I'll try to stick with this goal for a few days, then I'll try weaning myself off of the sodas again - diet sodas, but they are loaded with sodium.  I need to stay off of them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are going to be taking our Christmas pictures soon. I've been trying to exercise, but that's kind of leveled off. And Tyler turned 1. Not that its an excuse, but I did do a ton of eating - cake, ice cream, candy, burgers...and Halloween is coming with all that candy. Ugh.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to do better. It has been a while.  A LOOOOOONG while.  I just haven't been motivated to publish my weight issues, but I'm back for an update and will try and do better with this!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;CURRENT WEIGHT: 162 (wahoo!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What is going RIGHT: I am walking.  Really.  I walked about 7 miles today while the boys were in school.  On Mondays and Wednesdays I try and walk 2 miles with Tyler - I'm lucky if he can do that.  Tuesdays and Thursdays they are both in school.  I leave my car at the school and walk all over town.  It feels great.  I'm learning a lot about my town and the businesses here, and I'm getting some great exercise.  My house isn't getting cleaned, the flower beds aren't being weeded, but that's okay.  I'm making headway somewhere.  I'm also trying to drink more water.  That's just an ongoing battle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What to work on: I need to do something on the weekends - sitting around eating cobbler and ice-cream isn't going to help me out any.  I also need to work on getting Scott up to speed and on board with the whole weight loss thing. Lunch - small yogurt, a few cheese puffs, 1/2 banana, and a large glass of water&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Notes:  Crazy day - I'm hormonal, tired, cranky.  The tile guys are here, trying to finish up what seems to be an impossible task.  I have just about had enough of them!  I want a nap, and I want it now.  Tyler is teething (eye teeth - poor man) and that is keeping me out of the pantry. It started about 45 minutes out of our driveway when we stopped at our favorite truck stop, only to be greeted by the wafting smell of cookies.  I was resisting, although I had pondered them at the glass case a time or two.  Then, my son asked for a cookie.  I couldn't buy just one, I needed a DOZEN.  HUGE.  COOKIES.  The aftermath wasn't pretty at all.  No, I didn't eat them all, but I did scarf down three before I dove into my husband's Boston Baked Beans stash and ate my weight in them.  It doesn't end there, though.  We arrived at my in-laws in time for dinner, which was Chinese takeout - enough to feed about 16 people, I believe, and there were only 8 of us.  We had 10 cartons of food and ended up with EIGHT left over.  That's how much food there was!  I was miserable all night long.  The next day, I skipped breakfast because my stomach still hurt from the binging the day before.  But, lunch was late (1 p.m.) and I was famished by then, so when we hit the PIZZA BUFFET I was bad - really bad.  Then, we had burgers and chips and beans and potato salad and birthday cake for dinner.  Ugh.  Saturday I managed to eat a couple of pieces of bacon for breakfast, then it was on to my grandmother's for lunch where we had stew and bread and salad.  I'm amazed I can still wear any of my clothes!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This morning I weighed in at 167.5, so I guess the aftermath wasn't TOO bad, but I'm definitely not going down in my weight like I need to.  I need to be COMMITTED, DEDICATED and DEVOTED to this weight loss thing, at least until Christmas now.  Unfortunately, my son's birthday is this week, so it will be an entire week of partying and eating...I must show some resistance, some willpower, and get through this.  We hit Corpus in two weeks, and I'm a whale.  Yuck.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Starting tomorrow, I'm going to try to drag my big self out of bed when DH's alarm goes off and hit the road for a walk before the boys get up.  It is basically the only time I have for exercising, especially with 100+ temps here - the boys don't need to be out in that! Even after last night's fiasco!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What i ate: breakfast - bearclaw and a glass of water, lunch - 2 veggie fajitas and three cookies, dinner - three chicken fajitas and a bite of ice cream.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What went right - we were busy with clothes today and made it to swim for a bit - I stayed busy on the computer, but it was really hard to not snack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What to work on - getting the SUGARY stuff out of my house! Dinner was awful - fajitas, chips and queso, guacamole, cookies, Spanish rice...Coke.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What went right - I was busy today!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I need to work on - it was Bunko night and at my house, so I was stressed beyond belief and eating right and left. We did go to Schlitterbahn tonight and I was able to walk around quite a bit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I need to work on - exercise, naturally! Dinner: soft tacos (ground meat - seasoned, lettuce tomato, cheese sauce in flour tortilla) - 2, spanish rice and refried beans.  I had a couple of bites of ice cream for dessert and chips and queso to boot. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What went right - busyin the morning, so I didn't feel the need to snack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I need to work on - I waited too long to eat lunch - 1:15 p.m. - and I was famished.   The whole day went downhill after that.  I should eat earlier so that I am not so hungry by the time I eat! Don't ask about exercise. Dinner: I was bad - two handfuls of cheese puffs, a couple of bites of mac and cheese, a bite of pudding, 1/2 of a banana, and about 1/2 of a pack of cinnamon graham crackers.  Tomorrow's weigh in will NOT be pretty.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What went right - I was busier than a hornet this morning, so I ended up getting tons of stuff done with no eating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What to work on - However, Travis spent the afternoon at a friend's house, and snacking was way too tempting - I chose an apple and some grapes, though, so that was nice! Yes, yes, yes, I still need to exercise! i am well aware of that! I had a piece of banana bread after snapping at Scott (in defense, he snapped at me first).  For dinner, we went to Red Robin and I had a chicken salad, but then I had about 5 HUGE fries from Travis, a bite of his burger, and about 12 animal crackers when we got home.  Whew.  No sodas, though!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No exercise again today - it is just too hot, and I have the boys. We also finished painting the interior of the house, so that has kept me busy and out of the pantry!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I need to work on: I know, I know, more exercise! Whoo hooo!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I've eaten (nothing much, which is probably why the low weight)..."healthy start" cereal for breakfast, about 4 fried potato slices, two handfuls of goldfish and a big bottle of water for lunch, about a half of a bag of Quaker cereal bites (frosted strawberry) for a snack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What has worked today - I have been really THINKING about what I'm eating and consciously NOT eating stuff I know I shouldn't. We were at the pool at lunch and I hadn't really brought anything for myself...I just snacked after the kids. Travis almost gave me a chicken tender, but I made him eat it anyway so I wouldn't! HA!!! I think Scott and I are going out to dinner tonight. I'd love to go to the Chinese restaurant, but that would certainly hijinx my efforts!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;EDITED FOR DINNER:  We stopped at the grocery store and grabbed turkey on french bread sandwiches - no cheese, no veggies, nada - just turkey and bread.  I also had about 1/2 bag of chips, but my real downfall was the root beer I chugged as well.  Ugh.  Should've gone for the bottled water!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I need to work on: I'm not drinking enough water still. I need to be better about that. I had water to drink.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today's food choices: I had "healthy start" cereal for breakfast and 1/2 of a mini-muffin (split with Tyler). For lunch, we met friends at Burger King and I had a grilled chicken ceasar salad and a handful of goldfish. I also ate two slices of banana bread when we got home. I completely tossed the no soda rule out the window at lunch and had a diet coke, but I got a refill of tea (guilt).  Dinner consisted of about 6 cheese puffs and a small turkey and cheese sandwich (homemade bread).  I also had about 5 spoonfuls of Tin Roof ice cream (Blue Bell) before bed (I know, a big no-no).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;EXERCISE: none today - still oppressively hot, so I'm going to paint the living room and dining room today. (goal - 130 lbs)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today's menu:  1 donut for breakfast (it was a playdate, so sue me), a zillion grapes at lunch along with 3 handfuls of goldfish crackers and a small bag of regular chips, two bottles of water...dinner will be at a restaurant and I will *try* to order a salad!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MY PERSONAL ISSUES:  Sugar - except for the donut, I've managed to keep away from it today - amazingly enough!  Sodas - none today - whoo hoo! And, I think I know why - I am a closet dieter.  I try to pretend like I'm free to eat whatever, when actually I'm not.  And, once I commit to eating something, the eating continues for days and days.  I nullify any weight loss that I might have achieved already!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, my solution is to hold myself publicly accountable to my goals, plans, failures and achievements.  This is where I will put it all, EVERY.
